GEORGE EZRA

When I discover new artists I totally lose myself in their music. I try to find everything they ever made. And then I listen to it whenever I can. (Which is basically whenever I'm awake). I get so excited that I have trouble falling asleep because their songs keep playing in my head. And I would rather spend my time watching interviews and finding out about tour dates instead of sleeping. I guess I get addicted.

My current "music drug" is George Ezra. The 20 year old singer-songwriter from Bristol released two EP's recently. 'Did You Hear the Rain?' with the Single 'Budapest' in October 2013 and 'Cassy O'' in March 2014 (Single is called Cassy O' as well). He went to 'Brighton Institute of Modern Music' and finished as the best in his year. (At least that's what Wikipedia sais.^^)

He played at Glastonbury in 2013 and has been touring a lot. Gigs and Festivals are planned for this year as well. If you want to see him live just google it. I guess you're gonna find something!

I guess the BBC will play quite a big role on his way to being more known worldwide. His song "Angry Hill" was uploaded as part of 'BBC Introducing' in 2012, he played a cover of One Republic's "Counting Stars" at BBC Radio1 and he's on their 'Sound of 2014' list as well as several other lists that guarantee us that he will make it this year.

He definitely deserves to be heard by lots of ears. His voice is very unique and you don't really feel like listening to a 20 year old guy.  I won't try to explain his voice, you just have to hear it! He plays the guitar and I guess he's pretty good but I'm not one to judge on that since I don't know a lot about guitar-playing!

I made a playlist with some videos from his as well as other channels. You can listen to it here.

You can check out his YouTube channel where he uploads a lot of his songs and official music videos as well as acoustic versions here. (He's also on most common social networks if you fancy "stalking" him a little.)

There are two free downloads on his official webpage if you're interested and you can of course buy his music on iTunes etc.

I will leave my favourite song here so you can listen to it right away. It's "Over The Creek".

He's gonna be playing at Southside Festival this summer and I hope that I will manage to see his set. If so, I will definitely write about it!

I hope you enjoyed this post and will check his music out eventually.

Have a nice day!

WHAT IS THIS?

I don't really know how to write about music. It's a pity because I want to share what I love and when I find a new artist or band I want everyone to know their greatness. But I never know where to start. I could give information about the artist. Where they're from, what they did etc. etc. But I guess that's not what makes people listen to them. I have to write about how their music makes me feel and what happens inside my head and heart when I hear their voice, their guitars, their soul. And that's the trouble. I'm struggling with putting myself out there. Music is such an important part of my life, of myself, of the way I feel. I define myself through music and I feel like I show you the deepest parts of myself by sharing the music I love.

But maybe that's good for me. Maybe that's just my way of handling my emotions.

I want to try to write about it. Those posts may suck. Or they won't. I don't know. Maybe there will be posts where I just leave a video or tune without a comment. We'll see!

Have a wonderful day.

MUSIC ASK extras

Since the questions in the previous "music ask" where mostly about current favourites I wanted to add two more lists about my all-time favourites. Here we go!

1. My 5 favourite songs of all time:
    - The Pixies - Where Is My Mind?
    - MGMT - Kids
    - Oasis - Wonderwall
    - The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony
    - Frittenbude - Mindestens in 1000 Jahren

2. My 5 favourite bands/artists of all time:
    - Mumford and Sons
    - Adele
    - Snow Patrol
    - The Subways
    - Bastille

MUSIC ASK

Some time ago I came across this music ask on tumblr and I think that those questions are really cool. So I'll just quickly leave my answers here. What are your answers?

1. My 5 favourite songs right now
    - AOSOON - skinny strong
    - The 1975 - Sex
    - Bastille - Durban Skies
    - Bastille - Weight Of Living, Pt. I
    - Ben Howard - Under The Same Sun

2. The most played song on my iTunes:
José Gonzáles - Heartbeats (413 plays)

3. The song I'm listening to right now:
The Black Keys - Next Girl

4. The last album I bought:
AOSOONs EP "What is this About"

5. The last gig I went to:
...was far too long ago! (I won't count my parents' choir concerts here)
'The xx' live in Berlin in 2012

6. A song I can't get out of my head:
Right now there is none since I'm listening to music all the time. But I once had "Can't get you out of my head" by Kylie Minogue stuck in my head for hours. It was horribly ironic!

7. A song I listen to every day:
There is no song I purposely listen to every day. But since I'm addicted to Bastille at the moment it must be one of their songs. (see question 1)

8. The first album I ever bought:
I don't really remember buying my first album. But I got the soundtrack to Disney's Tarzan for Christmas when I was about 6 years old. I think it was my first "real music" CD and I loved it! (I still do^^)

9. The last single I downloaded:
I usually don't buy singles. I go for the whole Album. The last music I bought was AOSOONs Ep, The 1975's album and MS MR's album "Secondhand Rapture".

10. My favourite band right now:
    Bastille...obviously^^

11. My favourite artist right now:
    Ben Howard

12. My favourite type of music:
I find it quite hard to categorize music. But I guess its some kind of "Indie-Alternative-Pop-Rock-Minimal"-mix. It also depends on my mood. For me it's important that the lyrics are good and that you can feel that it's made by real musicians who love what they're doing.

13. #10 in my 25 most played songs:
The Fray - Over my Head (Cable Car)

14. Quote from one of my favourite lyrics:
    There are so many!
    - "Keep your head up, keep your heart strong", Ben Howard (from 'Keep Your Head Up')
    - "Unentschlossenheit verschwendet unsre Zeit", Madsen (from 'Ja oder Nein', it means "Indecisiveness wastes our time")

15. Do I listen to music everyday?
    Hell yeah!

I hope you found that interesting and/or entertaining! :)

Have a nice day! <3 M

MY FAVOURITES OF THE DAY

Sooo...I'm back trying to get into blogging regularly again. Let's see what'll happen!^^

I just wanted to show you what I liked today, music-wise.

1. So the day started of with "BBC Radio 1" since Bastille was going to be in the Live Lounge. And I have to say that british radio is much better than german radio! I don´t really enjoy listening to german radio stations since there's a lot of music that I don't like and the presenters humor is mostly...let's say "not  convincing".
Radio one on the other hand convinced me and here's one song they played that I really like:

2. Route 94 - My Love (feat. Jess Glynne)

It's a very positive song (contrary to the stuff I usually listen to^^) and has a good vibe. The vocals are really strong as well as the beat. This song just gets me! Love it! :)  (Let's see if this will eventually be played on german radio!)

3. Then, of course, it was time for the Bastille in the Live Lounge. I'm absolutely loving Bastille! They're my current favorite band and all their live sessions have been absolutely stunning so far. So I didn't expect to be disappointed. And hell no - I wasn't! They blew my mind! They did a mashup of "Earth Song" and "Common People" for their secret cover. They had a choir and Dan Smiths voice was perfect. I'm not gonna rant on about how much I love this band...just listen yourself!^^

Bastille - Earth Song/Common People

4. Then there's AOSOON. They're a London-based duo and I think their song "under" is relatively well-known since it was posted on some bigger music-channels on YouTube. I listened to "under" pretty often since last summer. On Sunday I finally bought their four-song-EP "What Is This About" which is incredible, too! I especially like this one:

AOSOON - skinny strong

Go show some love! (Is what I'm saying to my 0 readers^^) They deserve to be more popular!

5. My last "Favourite of the day" is a classic. I just stumbled over it again. Wonderwall is one of my all-time-favourite songs. It reminds me of my bestest friend which is nice. :) I'm really sad that I missed Oasis' "big time" because I was born far too late!

Have a good day!

THIS BRITISH FEELING

(Während dem lesen bitte dieses Lied hören! ;)  Please listen to this Song while reading! ;) )

Have a nice day! Marie <3

Whenever we have such weather like today (relatively mild but a lot of gray clouds and rain) I feel kind of "British". I don´t know why, because the only time that I was in the UK (one week in Scotland), we had great weather almost every day. But I suppose it's the usual cliché that it always rains in "good old Britain".

On such days I dress how I interpret British style. Somehow classy but also relaxed. I listen to British music and think of Burberry, Emma Watson, super cool British bands where every member is dressed perfectly, Alexa Chung, trench coats. Then my day passes like every normal day, but I somehow feel very special.

I don´t know if that makes sense for someone who can´t look into my head. But for me it sounds logical. ^^ And I really like those days.
So now I will make myself a cup of tea and imagine how I am in London (where I have never been before^^) dressed perfectly, sitting in a nice café, looking at the rainy, gray sky.

LONG LIVE PREJUDICES!

Have a nice day! Marie <3

THE WOMEN OF HARRY POTTER

Viel Spaß damit!
M

Lately, my love for the story of Harry Potter and everything that has to do with it flared up again. I read the books and am really looking forward to when I finally get the DVD box set for Christmas. Today I found this documentary about women in Harry Potter and find it wonderful! :)
