Darf ich vorstellen: meine Ukulele. Ich habe mir die gute heute erst gekauft, ist also noch ganz frisch. Die Entscheidung, mir eine Ukulele zu kaufen, kam ziemlich spontan. Ich habe in der Vergangenheit Geige und E-Bass gespielt, beides nur relativ kurz. Außerdem habe ich lange im Schulchor gesungen. Jetzt studiere ich und habe jegliche Hobbys erstmal auf Eis gelegt. Allerdings habe ich nach knapp 2 Semestern gemerkt, dass das kein Dauerzustand ist. Ich hatte überlegt, wieder einem Sportverein oder Chor beizutreten. Doch dann wäre ich an feste Zeiten gebunden. Also muss ein Instrument her! Ich fand die Ukulele ganz sympathisch, denn sie ist klein, handlich, man braucht keine weitere Ausstattung oder Technik. Außerdem gibt es ziemlich günstige Modelle, die für den Anfang mehr als ausreichend sein sollten. Ich habe für meine 40€ bezahlt und noch eine Tasche dazubekommen.
Morgen fangen meine Semesterferien an und dann habe ich viel Zeit, mir mit verschiedenen YouTube-Videos ("The Ukulele Teacher" kann ich bis jetzt empfehlen) das Spielen beizubringen. Ich habe vorhin schon die ersten Akkorde geschrammelt und es macht wirklich Spaß!
Ich werde bestimmt mal schreiben, wie ich so vorankomme. Falls jemand Erfahrungen mit dem Ukulele-Spielen hat, freue ich mich über Tips und Tricks!

May I introduce to you: my ukulele. I just bought the good boy today. The decision to buy a ukulele came to me quite spontaneously. In the past I played the violin and the electric bass for a while. Also, I have also sung in the school choir for several years. Now I'm at uni and I put all my hobbies on hold. However, after almost two semesters I realised that this is not a permanent condition. I had thought about joining a sports club or a choir again. But then I would be bound to fixed times. So an instrument is needed! I thought to myself that the ukulele wouldbe good since it's small, handy, you don't need any equipment or technology. There are also quite affordable models that should be more than enough to start with. I paid €40 for mine and got a bag with it.
Tomorrow starts my semester break and then I have a lot of time to teach myself how to play. I will use YouTube videos to learn it. I can recommend "The Ukulele Teacher" so far. I just strummed the first chords and it was fun!
I think I will write about how I get on in the future. If anyone has experience with playing the ukulele, I'm always glad about getting some tips and tricks!
Ich finde Burberry schon lange sehr sympathisch. Dabei sind es nicht mal die Kleidungsstücke, die mir gefallen. Es sind eher die Kampagnen und der allgemeine öffentliche Auftritt der Marke. Klassisch und trotzdem modern und so schön britisch. (Es kristallisiert sich auf diesem Blog schon heraus, dass ich auf Großbritannien stehe.^^)
Seit 2010 gibt es Burberry Acoustic. Dafür hat sich Burberry mit aufstrebenden britischen Künstlern zusammengetan, welche dann einen ihrer Songs als exklusive Burberry-Akustik-Version aufgenommen haben. Es gibt davon CD´s und, was es mir viel mehr angetan hat, schöne Videos auf YouTube. Die Bands/Künstler spielen in diesen Videos ihren Song an besonderen Orten. Zum Beispiel in Cafés, im Garten, auf der Weide, in einem Boot, oder auf der chinesischen Mauer. Die Auswahl, die Burberry getroffen hat, ist wirklich wunderbar. Und genau nach meinem Geschmack!

I liked Burberry for quite a while now. It are not even the clothes that I like. It is more about the campaigns and the general public image of the brand. Classic, yet modern and so beautifuly british. (You can already tell that I like Great Britain by my few blogposts.^^) Since 2010 they do Burberry Acoustic. For that Burberry has teamed up with upcoming British artists who have then recorded one of their songs as an exclusive Burberry Acoustic version. There are CD's of it and, what I think is even more beautiful, videos on YouTube. For the videos the bands/artists played their song in a special location. For example, in cafes, in their garden, on a pasture, in a boat or on the Great Wall of China. The selection Burberry has taken is wonderful. And it really fits mye taste in music! I thought that it would be nice to tell you about the music I have been listening to today. I don´t really want to do a big post about a single artist now. 1. Ben Howard - Figure8 (Ellie Goulding Cover)
Ben Howard always gets me! His voice and style of playing just helps me to calm down and get focused again.
2. B STORY - Back Then You may notice this guy. It´s Julian Smith who´s really big on youtube. He has been doing funny videos for years (each of them has millions of views). Now he does music instead and I really like it!
3. Mighty Oaks - Just One Day
I found these guys because 'jacksgap' (famous youtube channel) commented on it. And I´m very happy about that! I loved it from the first second. It sounds like summer, sitting with your friends in warm summer nights. Just beautiful.:)
So I basically listened to Mighty Oaks' and B STORY´s EP´s all day. And a bit of Ben Howard in between. I hope you like them as much as I do!

Ich dachte, es wäre schön, wenn ich euch zeige, welche Musik ich heute so gehört habe. Ich möchte jetzt nicht wirklich einen großen Post über einen Künstler schreiben. Ich habe diese Jungs entdeckt, weil 'jacksgap' (ein großer youtube-Kanal) dieses Video kommentiert hat. Und darüber bin ich sehr froh! Ich mochte es von der ersten Sekunde an. Es klingt wie Sommer, mit Freunden in lauen Nächten zusammensitzen. Einfach nur schön. :)
Im Grunde habe ich heute den ganzen Tag nur die EP´s von Mighty Oaks und B STORY gehört. Und zwischendurch ein bisschen Ben Howard. Ich hoffe, die Sachen gefallen euch so gut wie mir!

Ich hatte schon über das anstehende Album von Casper geschrieben ("Hinterland", Release am 27.09.). Nun wurde letzte Woche die erste Single daraus veröffentlicht und ich wollte nur kurz meine Meinung dazu abgeben. Die Single heißt "Im Ascheregen" (ich habe am Anfang immer "Im Arsch.." gelesen^^). Darin hört und sieht man das Material aus dem Teaser, dass mich ja so begeistert hatte. Auch bei der Single bin ich absolut begeistert vom Sound. Das ist endlich mal was euphorisches und aufstrebendes. Auch der Text soll das widerspiegeln. Allerdings kommt jetzt der negative Teil meiner Meinung. Vom Rapteil war ich nicht sehr überzeugt. Mir kommt der Text nicht sehr tiefgründig vor. Und das halb gesungene fand ich auch nicht so toll. Aber vielleicht ist das Gewohnheitssache. Es ist eben anders als das, was man von Casper kennt. Ich habe mir das Teil nach der Veröffentlichung ständig angehört, weil ich wollte, dass es mir gefällt. Denn ich freue mich immer noch sehr aufs Album. Und nach ungefähr 10 Durchgängen hat es mir dann auch gefallen. Aber ich glaube, dass man von etwas richtig Gutem schon beim ersten Hören begeistert sein sollte.
Aber man soll ja den Tag nicht vor dem Abend loben. Und deshalb ist das nur eine kleine Zwischenbilanz zum zweiten Frühstück. Wenn uns Casper Ende September das Abendessen serviert (oh oh, Metapher-Schleuder!), werden wir ja sehen, was es da gibt.
Ich bin sehr gespannt darauf und hoffe, dass er mich dann schon beim ersten Hören voll überzeugt. Und selbst wenn nicht, habe ich den Herbst über viel viel Casper anzuhören.

Ich finde, das klingt ganz interessant. "Jambalaya" wurde ja am "splash!" angespielt. Hat mir gefallen. Aber ich will jetzt nicht weiter über Songtitel und, wie sie vielleicht klingen werden, philosophieren. Einfach bis 27.09. warten und dann testhören.

I had already written about Casper´s upcoming album ("Hinterland", Release on 27.09.). Well, last week the first single from "Hinterland" was released and I just wanted to give my opinion. The single is called "Im Ascheregen" (I always read "Im Arsch..." in the beginning ^^). You can see and hear the material from the teaser that I really enjoyed. I'm absolutely delighted with the sound of the single. This is finally something euphoric and ambitious from him. The text is supposed to reflect that. Now there is the negative part in my opinion. I was not very convinced by his rapping. To me, the text is still not very profound. And I also don´t like the half-sung part to much. But maybe that's a matter of habit. It's just different than what we know of Casper. I listened to the single all the time after it had been released because I wanted to like it. Because I'm still looking forward to the album. And after about 10 rounds I started to like it. But I think you should be excited about something at the first hearing. But you shouldn´t count your chickens before they hatch. And so this is only a short interim report. When Casper releases the album in september we will see what it´s all about. I am very excited and hope that he will fully convince me at the first hearing. And even if not, I have a lot of his music to listen to (10 rounds to like it!^^). Incidentally, the track list for "Hinterland" has been released yesterday.

Can we please take a moment to appreciate how wonderful "Ben and Jerry´s"-Ice cream is? I absolutely love it! I don´t remember how it catched my attention but I know that I instantly wanted to try it. I bought a shorty of "Cookie Dough" (of course^^) at my local video rental shop that one night when we did a sleepover at a friends house. And I was amazed. Instant love you would call it. So I bought one now an then, for example at the cinema or when I was in town shopping with friends. But it always was a special treat since it´s quite expensive.
Over the last years I haven´t had it too often. But do you know those movie scenes where they are lovesick so they buy a pint (500ml) of "Ben and Jerry´s" and eat it with a tablespoon while crying? YES! That´s why "Ben and Jerry´s" got to be the brand I turn to when I´m not in a good mood. (I´m an emotional eater anyways!) So I always saw the Pints at the supermarket and thought "I am going to buy one of those badasses when I am completely out of my mind for whatever reason". And the day arrived. This week I was food shopping. I was walking towards the check-outs with my basket when I saw the freezers. And there was a special offer on "Ben and Jerry´s"-Pints. It was my chance! I´m in a very fragile condition at the moment because I have to study for exams at Uni, I´m sad about how I´m sitting at home all day instead of enjoying the beautiful weather we have had the last weeks and I just want it to stop.
So I bought this pint of "half baked"-ice cream which is a mixture of "Cookie Dough" and "Chocolate Fudge Brownie". I mean how good can it get?!
End of the story is that I ate the whole thing in three days (I forced myself not to eat everything at once with a tablespoon while crying!:P). And I loved every second of it!
I feel the urge to buy another one of those wonderful, heartwarming, heaven-like creations but I guess that my budget can´t handle too much over-priced ice cream.^^

Können wir uns bitte einen Moment Zeit nehmen, um zu würdigen, wie wunderbar "Ben und Jerrys"-Eis ist? Ich liebe es! Ich erinnere mich nicht, wie ich davon erfahren habe, aber ich weiß, dass ich es sofort probieren wollte. Ich kaufte mir einen "Shorty" "Cookie Dough" (natürlich ^^) in unserer örtlichen Videothek, als wir einen Sleepover bei einer Freundin gemacht haben. Und ich war begeistert. Aber es war immer ein besonderes Erlebnis, da es ziemlich teuer ist. In den letzten Jahren habe ich seltener welches gegessen. Aber jeder kennt doch diese Filmszenen, wo jemand Liebeskummer hat, sich eine große Packung (500ml) "Ben and Jerrys" kauft, sie mit einem Esslöffel isst und dabei weint? Ja! Das ist, warum "Ben und Jerrys" die Marke ist, an die ich mich wende, wenn ich in schlechter Stimmung bin. (Ich bin sowieso ein emotionaler!) Also habe ich immer die Pints im Supermarkt gesehen und dachte: "Ich werde einen dieser Bösewichte kaufen, wenn ich mal, aus welchem Grund auch immer, völlig fertig bin!". Und der Tag kam. Diese Woche war ich einkaufen. Ich bin gerade mit meinem Korb zur Kasse gelaufen, als ich an den Gefrierschränken vorbeikam. Und es gab ein Sonderangebot auf "Ben und Jerrys"-Pints. Es war meine Chance! Ich bin momentan echt in einer schlechten Verfassung, weil ich für die Prüfungen an der Uni lernen muss und total traurig darüber bin, dass ich den ganzen Tag zu Hause sitze, statt das schöne Wetter zu genießen, dass wir die letzten Wochen hatten. Und ich will einfach, dass es endlich vorbei ist! Also kaufte ich mir ein Pint "Half Baked"-Eis, das eine Mischung aus "Cookie Dough" und "Chocolate Fudge Brownie" ist. Ich meine, wie gut kann es werden?! Ende der Geschichte ist, dass ich alles in drei Tagen aufgegessen habe (Ich habe mich gezwungen, nicht alles auf einmal mit einem Esslöffel zu essen während ich weine : P). Und ich habe jede Sekunde davon geliebt!^^ Ich habe das Bedürfnis, noch eine dieser wunderbaren, herzerwärmenden, himmlischen Kreationen zu kaufen, aber ich vermute, dass bei meinem Budget nicht so viel überteuertes Eis drin ist. ^^ Ich hoffe, ihr seid in einer besseren Stimmung als ich. Over the last days I realized that there isn´t enough music-related stuff that I could write about. I am absolutely in love with music every day of my life. But I feel like not everything is complex enough to write a single blogpost about it. Since I enjoy writing and want to do more of it I decided to expand this blog from "the tunes that I love" to kinda "everything that I love".
So from now on there will be posts about aaaall kinds of different things that bring joy into my life. :)
If you´re wondering why this post is in english. I just felt like it! I love the english language and I really enjoy writing in english. (I even think in english most of the times^^)

In den letzten Tagen habe ich gemerkt, dass es nicht genug Musik-Themen gibt, über die ich schreiben kann. Ich bin zwar an jedem Tag meines Lebens absolut in Musik verliebt, aber ich habe das Gefühl, dass viele Themen nicht umfangreich genug sind, um mich einen ganzen Blogpost darüber zu schreiben ist. Da mir das Schreiben viel Spaß macht und ich mehr schreiben möchte, habe ich beschlossen, diesen Blog von "the tunes that I love" zu "everything that I love" zu erweitern.
Von nun an wird es hier um alle möglichen Dinge, die mir Freude bringen, gehen. :)
Wer dich fragt, warum dieser Post auf Englisch geschrieben ist. Ich hatte einfach Lust darauf! Ich liebe die englische Sprache und ich schreibe gerne in Englisch. (Ich denke sogar oft auf Englisch.^^)
