EIN EXPERIMENT

Darf ich vorstellen: meine Ukulele. Ich habe mir die gute heute erst gekauft, ist also noch ganz frisch. Die Entscheidung, mir eine Ukulele zu kaufen, kam ziemlich spontan. Ich habe in der Vergangenheit Geige und E-Bass gespielt, beides nur relativ kurz. Außerdem habe ich lange im Schulchor gesungen. Jetzt studiere ich und habe jegliche Hobbys erstmal auf Eis gelegt. Allerdings habe ich nach knapp 2 Semestern gemerkt, dass das kein Dauerzustand ist. Ich hatte überlegt, wieder einem Sportverein oder Chor beizutreten. Doch dann wäre ich an feste Zeiten gebunden. Also muss ein Instrument her! Ich fand die Ukulele ganz sympathisch, denn sie ist klein, handlich, man braucht keine weitere Ausstattung oder Technik. Außerdem gibt es ziemlich günstige Modelle, die für den Anfang mehr als ausreichend sein sollten. Ich habe für meine 40€ bezahlt und noch eine Tasche dazubekommen. 

Morgen fangen meine Semesterferien an und dann habe ich viel Zeit, mir mit verschiedenen YouTube-Videos ("The Ukulele Teacher" kann ich bis jetzt empfehlen) das Spielen beizubringen. Ich habe vorhin schon die ersten Akkorde geschrammelt und es macht wirklich Spaß!

Ich werde bestimmt mal schreiben, wie ich so vorankomme. Falls jemand Erfahrungen mit dem Ukulele-Spielen hat, freue ich mich über Tips und Tricks!

May I introduce to you: my ukulele. I just bought the good boy today. The decision to buy a ukulele came to me quite spontaneously. In the past I played the violin and the electric bass for a while. Also, I have also sung in the school choir for several years. Now I'm at uni and I put all my hobbies on hold. However, after almost two semesters I realised that this is not a permanent condition. I had thought about joining a sports club or a choir again. But then I would be bound to fixed times. So an instrument is needed! I thought to myself that the ukulele wouldbe good since it's small, handy, you don't need any equipment or technology. There are also quite affordable models that should be more than enough to start with. I paid €40 for mine and got a bag with it.

Tomorrow starts my semester break and then I have a lot of time to teach myself how to play. I will use YouTube videos to learn it. I can recommend "The Ukulele Teacher" so far. I just strummed the first chords and it was fun!

I think I will write about how I get on in the future. If anyone has experience with playing the ukulele, I'm always glad about getting some tips and tricks!

IN LOVE WITH: BURBERRY ACOUSTIC

Ich finde Burberry schon lange sehr sympathisch. Dabei sind es nicht mal die Kleidungsstücke, die mir gefallen. Es sind eher die Kampagnen und der allgemeine öffentliche Auftritt der Marke. Klassisch und trotzdem modern und so schön britisch. (Es kristallisiert sich auf diesem Blog schon heraus, dass ich auf Großbritannien stehe.^^)
Seit 2010 gibt es Burberry Acoustic. Dafür hat sich Burberry mit aufstrebenden britischen Künstlern zusammengetan, welche dann einen ihrer Songs als exklusive Burberry-Akustik-Version aufgenommen haben. Es gibt davon CD´s und, was es mir viel mehr angetan hat, schöne Videos auf YouTube. Die Bands/Künstler spielen in diesen Videos ihren Song an besonderen Orten. Zum Beispiel in Cafés, im Garten, auf der Weide, in einem Boot, oder auf der chinesischen Mauer. Die Auswahl, die Burberry getroffen hat, ist wirklich wunderbar. Und genau nach meinem Geschmack!

I liked Burberry for quite a while now. It are not even the clothes that I like. It is more about the campaigns and the general public image of the brand. Classic, yet modern and so beautifuly british. (You can already tell that I like Great Britain by my few blogposts.^^)
Since 2010 they do Burberry Acoustic. For that Burberry has teamed up with upcoming British artists who have then recorded one of their songs as an exclusive Burberry Acoustic version. There are CD's of it and, what I think is even more beautiful, videos on YouTube. For the videos the bands/artists played their song in a special location. For example, in cafes, in their garden, on a pasture, in a boat or on the Great Wall of China. The selection Burberry has taken is wonderful. And it really fits mye taste in music!

WHAT I LIKED TODAY (MUSIC)

I thought that it would be nice to tell you about the music I have been listening to today. I don´t really want to do a big post about a single artist now. So I will just show you the videos of what I liked today! Maybe you´ll find your new favorite song. Or at least something that you might enjoy. :)

1. Ben Howard - Figure8 (Ellie Goulding Cover)

Ben Howard always gets me! His voice and style of playing just helps me to calm down and get focused again.

2. B STORY - Back Then

You may notice this guy. It´s Julian Smith who´s really big on youtube. He has been doing funny videos for years (each of them has millions of views). Now he does music instead and I really like it!

3. Mighty Oaks - Just One Day

I found these guys because 'jacksgap' (famous youtube channel) commented on it. And I´m very happy about that! I loved it from the first second. It sounds like summer, sitting with your friends in warm summer nights. Just beautiful.:)

So I basically listened to Mighty Oaks' and B STORY´s EP´s all day. And a bit of Ben Howard in between. I hope you like them as much as I do!

Ich dachte, es wäre schön, wenn ich euch zeige, welche Musik ich heute so gehört habe. Ich möchte jetzt nicht wirklich einen großen Post über einen Künstler schreiben. Also werde ich nur kurz die Videos von dem zeigen, was mir heute gefallen hat. Vielleicht findet jemand sein neues Lieblings-Lied. Oder zumindest etwas, das ihm gut gefällt. :)

Ben Howard überzeugt mich immer! Seine Stimme und Spielweise hilft mir, mich zu beruhigen und mich wieder zu konzentrieren.

2. B STORY - Back Then

Vielleicht kennt jemand diesen Kerl hier. Es ist Julian Smith, der auf youtube ziemlich groß ist. Er hat seit Jahren geniale "Comedy"-Videos produziert (jedes davon hat Millionen von Klicks). Jetzt macht er Musik und die gefällt mir wirklich gut!

3. Mighty Oaks - Just One Day

Ich habe diese Jungs entdeckt, weil 'jacksgap' (ein großer youtube-Kanal) dieses Video kommentiert hat. Und darüber bin ich sehr froh! Ich mochte es von der ersten Sekunde an. Es klingt wie Sommer, mit Freunden in lauen Nächten zusammensitzen. Einfach nur schön. :)

Im Grunde habe ich heute den ganzen Tag nur die EP´s von Mighty Oaks und B STORY gehört. Und zwischendurch ein bisschen Ben Howard. Ich hoffe, die Sachen gefallen euch so gut wie mir!

EIN HOCH AUF BRITISCHE MUSIK

Ich weiß nicht warum, aber die Briten wissen einfach, wie man Musik macht. Ich mochte die Musik "von den Inseln" (wenn jch Großbritannien schreibe, meine ich, in diesem Fall, auch Irland) schon immer gerne. Viele meiner "all time favourites" sind britisch.  Aber auch sonst ist die Dichte an britischen Künstlern auf meinem iPod enorm! Also habe ich mal eine Playlist mit dem einfallslosen Titel "All British" erstellt. Und ich muss sagen, die kann sich hören lassen! Es ist ein wilder Mix aus allen Stilen. Alles, was man darin findet habe ich zu irgendeiner Zeit mal gehört. Durch die Playlist entdecke ich diese Alben/Künstler jetzt wieder. Und ich liiiebe sie!

Natürlich ist das nur ein Bruchteil von dem, was Großbritannien musikalisch zu bieten hat. Entschuldigt mich, falls ich jemanden vergessen habe, der eurer Meinung nach unbedingt auf die Liste gehört. Aber das hier ist einfach die Musik, die ich in meiner Sammlung habe.
Aber sagt doch mal, welche Musik "made in Britain" hört ihr am liebsten? Ich freue mich immer über neue Empfehlungen!

I don´t know why, but the Brits simply know how to make music. I have always liked the music "from the islands" (when talking about the Great Britain I mean the UK and Ireland). Many of my "all time favorites" are British. But all together the density of British artists on my iPod is enormous! So I created a playlist with the unimaginative title "All British". And I have to say that i like it! It's a wild mix of all styles. Everything you find here I have heard at some time. Through the playlist I have discovered these albums/artists again. And I loove it!
